Client Information - Dermal Fillers including Lip enhancement and definition

Dermal fillers are used to soften and contour facial lines, folds and wrinkles. The fillers are injected into the skin to add volume. The result is instantaneous and can last upto 9 months. They are an ideal solution for softening deep lines from the mouth to nose area, lip lines, enhancing the lips and lifting the corners of the mouth.

What is a Dermal Filler?
Healthy looking skin needs moisture - not just at the surface but at every level. There is a naturally occurring compound in the skin called hyaluronic acid which holds on to water. Skin shape and volume is largely determined by the levels of hyaluronic acid which decreases with age. One way to treat wrinkles and lines in the face is to inject extra hyaluronic acid to replenish the levels and hydrate the skin. As a result skin volume and tone are increased and lines are reduced.

Which dermal fillers do we use?
Juvederm, Hydra Fill soft line and Hydrafill soft line MAX are used by WH facial solutions. They contain hyaluronic acid like that found naturally in the skin. No allergy test is required, they are non animal in origin and suitable for all skin types.

What does the procedure entail?
Treatments can take as little as 15 minutes but may take longer. An anaesthetic cream is applied to the area to be treated then, using a very fine needle, your practitioner will inject the filler beneath the surface of the skin. For more severe lines the filler is injected slightly deeper and small red marks may appear but will fade over the following hours. The results of the treatment are not permanent, but in most cases last upto 6 months so repeat treatment will be required.

Are there any side effects?
Reactions are usually temporary in nature. As with all biodegradable fillers local inflammatory reaction such as rednesss and swelling may be accompanied by tempoary irritation or pain on application of pressure after the injection. Lumps or nodules may appear at the injection site. Rare cases of necrosis (local tissue damage) in the frown area, abscesses and hyper sensitivity have been recorded after injections of hyaluronic acid.

Can anyone have treatment with dermal fillers?

  • Anyone who falls into the following categories may not be treated with dermal fillers
  • Women who are pregnant or breast feeding
  • Anyone under 18 years old
  • Anyone known to be sensitive to hyaluronic acid
  • Anyone with acne or visible herpes (cold sores)
  • Anyone who has recently had laser therapy, chemical peeling or dermabrasion to the same area and has not healed completely
  • Anyone who has a history of recurrent streptococcal disease (recurrent sore throats)
  • Anyone on immunosuppressive therapy.

What do you do after treatment?
Following treatment you must minimise exposure of the treated area to excessive sunlight, or extreme cold weather until any initial redness or swelling has resolved. Avoid the application of make up for 12 hours following the injection. Avoid applying creams which contain alpha hydroxy acids. Although every precaution is taken, as with all injections there is a risk of infection.

Client Information - Lip enhancement and definition

Do you feel that your lips have always been thin?
Do you feel that your lips are loosing their volume and fine lines are developing?
Do you wish for fuller more defined lips?
Dermal fillers are the answer.

What does the procedure entail?
Because the lips and mouth area can be more sensitive you will have local anaesthetic injections to provide complete pain relief. The filler is then injected to give the result you require. The result is instantaneous but accompanied by swelling which will reduce after a few days.
