Line & wrinkle smoothing injections are mainly used for lines in the upper part of the face. A small amount of clinically prepared protein is injected into the muscles that causes lines and wrinkles. The injection temporarily prevents nerve signals from reaching the muscles and as a result the muscle relaxes, causing the skin to smooth out. You may have heard the
name Botox® Vistabel® or Botulinum Toxin A in relation to this treatment. They are different names for the same active ingredient which has been used in clinical practice for more than 10 years. The smoothing effect of the treatment usually lasts from 4 to 6 months. It can take up to 14 days for the maximum results of this treatment to become apparent.

How long does the procedure take?
Treatment can take as little as 10 minutes and most people can return to normal activities immediately afterwards.

Are there any side effects?
Side effects, if they occur, are usually temporary. Any injection can cause discomfort, redness, swelling and occasional bruising all of which will subside quickly. Other side effects which may occur include headaches, drooping of the eyelid and eyebrow and are temporary in nature. An experienced injector will minimize but not eliminate the risk of such side effects. A copy of the patients information leaflet provided with the product will be given to you during the consent process.

Can anyone have the treatment?
Treatment will not be given in the following situations:

Pregnant or breast feeding women
Anyone under the age of 18 years
Anyone with Eaton Lambert Syndrome, Myasthenia Gravis or suffering from a muscle wasting disease
Anyone who is known to be allergic to Botulinum Toxin
Anyone with a history of difficulty in swallowing

What do you do after the treatment?
Directly after the treatment there maybe redness, swelling and numbness to the treated
area which will subside. Do not engage in strenuous activity immediately after treatment.
Refrain from touching the area for 3 to 4 hours. Refrain from washing the area and
applying make up for 12 hours. Post procedure instructions will be given to you during
the treatment process
